Vanilla WoW Wiki

Recently had an unregistered user come onto the wiki and vandalize the front page and a server page; quickly rolled back their edits (do they not realize how MediaWiki software works?) and banned for a full year. This wiki's purpose needs no justification, but all the same, the purpose of this wiki is to provide a chronicle of content pertaining to version Patch 1.1.0 up to Patch 1.12.1/Patch 1.12.2.

Because the game was so heavily changed by The Burning Crusade, and so much was removed by Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, and Mists of Pandaria, this is meant both as an information source for those who wish to know about Classic WoW, as well as an archive.

Further this wiki does not seek to compete with (how can a wiki do that?) or displace retail World of Warcraft. If you are a player who plays retail World of Warcraft, and this wiki's content bothers you, do what you should do with any content on the internet that you don't like: ignore it. In this day and age, there seems to be a lot of misplaced intentions and bullheadedness, where someone feels the need to slam something, and then point it out by linking it to his 500 friends, and they link it to their 500 friends, and so on and so forth.

The problem is, like in all situations, this merely brings light to the thing they were slamming, and it gains popularity, which explains a majority of the internet sensations that everyone hates, but yet everyone links to everyone else and then it gets millions of views (and then millions of followers).

So sorry if you're offended in some way by this wiki's content, but all that is being done here is providing an archive and information source for a now-dead version of the game. No one thinks that somehow this wiki will make Blizzard lose subscribers, so please keep your inappropriate edits to yourself. If need be, admin protection can be placed on every page.

There are over 6,000 pages on this wiki, and many of them are going to be deleted anyway. But a vast project is hard to manage by one person.
