Transmute (or "transmutation") is a class of sub-skills of [Alchemy]. It is highly valued since it allows the transmutation of some metals into more valuable ones, and transmutation of some elemental items into harder to find ones.
Formulas
All transmutations require the alchemist to have a [Philosopher's Stone] or any of the variants of the [Alchemist's Stone] equipped or in his inventory.

Transmutation Master
A transmutation created 5 items at once
"Allows an Alchemist to sometimes get greater results when transmuting materials" - When specialized as a Transmutation Master, there is a random chance that you create more than one item when transmuting. It's possible to get up to 5 items in a single process.
Transmutation Mastery still works with WotLK recipes.
It has been reported that, when averaged, Transmutation mastery grants an increase in resulting items of about 20%. Given that a single transmute can result in up to 5 items, long stretches of "no additional results" may result.
