A standard ability (or power) for classes that can use ranged weapons to fire the weapon.
In World of Warcraft[]
Shooting in World of Warcraft is not that much different from other MMORPG games. A player with the ability to shoot in most cases moves to maximum range and then fires his ranged weapon. Shooting is very useful for finishing off an opponent or dealing damage while avoiding the same. Some classes, most notably, the Hunter, depend heavily on ranged weapons and dealing damage from afar with the same.
Most ranged weapons (bows, guns, wands, etc.) also have a minimum range where they cannot be fired if too close to the target.
In World of Warcraft, there are two types of Shoot: one for wands (usable by Mages,
Priests, and
Warlocks) and one for all other ranged weapons (usable by
Rogues and
Warriors).
Hunters do not have this ability. They have [Auto Shot] instead.
