• Imbue the Shaman's weapon with fire, increasing total spell damage by X. Each hit causes Y additional Fire damage, based on the speed of the weapon. Slower weapons cause more fire damage per swing. Lasts 30 minutes.

The flames licked the edges of the weapon as though only blood would slake its thirst.

Flametongue Weapon is a temporary weapon enhancement that does fire damage and increases spell damage for 30 minutes.

Functionality

Flametongue Weapon gives a straight buff to spell damage, plus extra Fire damage per melee hit. In addition, Enhancement Shamans can learn Lava Lash, which increases damage by 25% if the off-hand weapon is enchanted with Flametongue Weapon.

Flametongue Weapon is the preferred weapon buff for Elemental Shamans, even though from level 5 to 18 Minor Wizard Oil has +1 more spell damage. Note that since this only increases damage, Oils are the only beneficial weapon buff for healing until Earthliving Weapon at level 30.

For Enhancement Shamans, it is the recommended that after you talent 5/5 in Elemental Fury to use Flametongue on your offhand weapon over Windfury Weapon.

Tips

• While Flametongue is useless against foes with high Fire resistance, it is not halted by those with high armour.
