Bind to Account (BtA; previously "Binds to account", but now "Binds to Battle.net account" as of Patch 4.1) is a new form of item binding that was introduced in Patch 3.0.2. Items that are BtA include heirlooms, Collector's Edition companions, the Baby Blizzard Bear, and the Onyxian Whelpling.

Some players incorrectly use the term BoA instead of BtA to match BoP and BoE.

Account-bound items can be mailed to any character that shares the same account and server. Since Patch 3.3.0, account-bound items can be mailed to characters of opposing faction.

As of patch 4.1, account-bound items can be mailed from characters attached to different World of Warcraft accounts if they are under the same Battle.net account and on the same realm. Also, faction-specific items will be translated to the faction equivalent, if changing factions.

"BoAs" as some people call them can be bought from many rep. vendors, including bought from points in Dalaran and Honor points in Wintergrasp
